This Privacy Policy explains how Salted Shores (“Salted Shores,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, associates, and discloses information in connection with the Salted Shores website, game servers, Discord community, account system, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Website and Network Information

When you access the Salted Shores website or related network services, we may automatically collect:

• IP address;
• date and time of requests;
• requested pages or endpoints;
• HTTP status and request information;
• browser or user-agent information;
• referring information where supplied by your browser;
• session and authentication identifiers;
• rate-limit and anti-spam events; and
• security, error, and diagnostic logs.

IP addresses and related technical records may be collected whether or not you create an account.

1.2 Salted Shores Account Information

If you register or use account features, we may collect and maintain:

• account identifiers;
• username or display name;
• account creation and login timestamps;
• linked Steam and Discord identifiers;
• account preferences;
• permissions, roles, membership status, and entitlements;
• moderation and security records;
• support requests, appeals, or reports; and
• other information you provide through the Services.

1.3 Steam Information

Salted Shores may use Steam OpenID, Steam Web APIs, game-server interfaces, or other authorized Steam services.

When you authenticate with or link Steam, we may receive your Steam identifier and may obtain information available through authorized Steam interfaces and permitted by applicable Steam terms, such as:

• SteamID or SteamID64;
• Steam profile name;
• profile URL;
• avatar or profile image;
• profile visibility;
• publicly available profile information;
• ban or restriction information;
• relevant game-related information; and
• timestamps recording when Steam information was retrieved or refreshed.

Steam OpenID does not provide Salted Shores with your Steam password.

Steam information may be cached and periodically refreshed where reasonably necessary to provide player records, statistics, account features, moderation, security, and other Services.

Nonpublic Steam data obtained through Steam APIs will be handled in accordance with applicable Valve requirements.

1.4 Discord Information

If you authenticate with, link, or interact with Salted Shores through Discord, we may collect information made available through Discord and the permissions or OAuth scopes you authorize, including:

• Discord user ID;
• username and display name;
• avatar;
• guild or server membership information;
• roles or permissions relevant to Salted Shores;
• account-link status;
• interaction information involving Salted Shores bots or integrations; and
• related timestamps and administrative records.

We do not receive your Discord password through Discord OAuth.

1.5 Game Server Information

When you connect to or interact with a Salted Shores game server, we may collect or generate:

• Steam or game-platform identifiers;
• IP address and connection information;
• join and disconnect timestamps;
• server and session information;
• gameplay or server-generated statistics;
• moderation actions and ban records;
• reports and administrative notes;
• anti-cheat, anti-abuse, and security signals; and
• other server events reasonably necessary to operate or protect the community.

2. How We Use Information

We may use collected information to:

• authenticate users and operate accounts;
• link Salted Shores accounts with Steam and Discord accounts;
• provide player profiles, records, statistics, and community features;
• operate game servers and website functionality;
• maintain membership or VIP entitlements;
• detect and prevent spam, abuse, cheating, ban evasion, fraud, and unauthorized access;
• enforce server and community rules;
• perform rate limiting and network security;
• investigate incidents, reports, disputes, and appeals;
• maintain audit and moderation records;
• diagnose errors and improve reliability;
• respond to support or privacy requests;
• comply with applicable law and third-party platform requirements; and
• protect the rights, safety, integrity, and operation of Salted Shores and its users.

3. Linking Information Across Services

Salted Shores may associate information from different parts of the Services when reasonably necessary for operation, security, moderation, or abuse prevention.

For example, where technically and legally appropriate, we may associate a Salted Shores account, Steam identifiers, Discord identifiers, game-server identifiers, IP addresses, website request logs, connection history, and moderation or security records.

This may be used to investigate spam, malicious requests, ban evasion, account abuse, coordinated activity, or other violations.

Registration or account linking allows Salted Shores to associate information connected with that account as described in this Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

Salted Shores may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies necessary for authentication, session management, account security, CSRF protection, preferences, and reliable operation of the website.

Salted Shores does not currently use non-essential advertising cookies solely for behavioral advertising.

If our use of non-essential tracking technologies materially changes, this Privacy Policy and any legally required consent mechanism will be updated.

5. Retention

Salted Shores does not apply one universal retention period to every category of information.

Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including operation of the Services, moderation, security, abuse prevention, historical player records, dispute resolution, enforcement, legal compliance, and protection of the community.

Some information may therefore be retained for extended periods where it remains reasonably relevant to those purposes.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, aggregate, or anonymize it, subject to applicable legal obligations and third-party platform requirements.

We may retain certain security, moderation, ban, fraud-prevention, and audit records even after account closure or unlinking where reasonably necessary and legally permitted.

Discord API data and nonpublic Steam API data are also subject to the applicable retention and deletion requirements imposed by Discord and Valve.

6. Data Storage Location

Salted Shores data is primarily stored and processed in the United States.

Third-party service providers may process information in additional locations according to their own infrastructure and privacy terms.

7. Disclosure of Information

Salted Shores does not sell personal information to advertisers.

We may disclose information:

• to hosting, infrastructure, security, payment, email, or other service providers where necessary to provide the Services;
• to Steam, Discord, payment providers, or other platforms where necessary for an integration or requested transaction;
• when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
• when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or threats;
• to protect Salted Shores, its users, or others from harm or unlawful activity; or
• in connection with a lawful reorganization, transfer, or succession of the Services.

8. Payment Information

Payments may be processed by a third-party payment processor or merchant of record.

Salted Shores does not intentionally store full payment-card numbers, card security codes, or other raw card credentials when those details are collected directly by the payment provider.

Salted Shores may receive transaction identifiers, payment status, purchase details, entitlement information, fraud or dispute information, and limited billing information made available by the payment provider.

9. Security

Salted Shores uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.

10. Access, Correction, Unlinking, and Deletion Requests

You may request access to, correction of, unlinking of, or deletion of account-associated information through the Salted Shores website support or privacy-request system.

Requests may require reasonable identity verification before information is disclosed, changed, or deleted.

A deletion request does not necessarily require deletion of every record. Salted Shores may retain information where reasonably necessary and legally permitted for security and fraud prevention, abuse or ban-evasion prevention, moderation records, legal compliance, dispute resolution, exercise or defense of legal claims, or compliance with Steam, Discord, or other applicable platform requirements.

Where a third-party platform requires deletion of particular API data, Salted Shores will handle that data in accordance with the applicable requirement.

11. Children

The Services are not intended for children under 13.

Salted Shores does not knowingly permit users under 13 to register for Services that require a Salted Shores account.

If we become aware that information was collected from a child in violation of applicable law, we may take reasonable steps to delete it.

12. Third-Party Services

Steam, Discord, payment providers, game publishers, and other third-party services maintain their own privacy policies and terms.

Salted Shores does not control how those independent services collect or process information outside the Salted Shores Services.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Salted Shores may update this Privacy Policy when our Services, data practices, legal obligations, or third-party platform requirements change.

The current version will be published on the website with its effective or updated date.

14. Contact and Privacy Requests

Privacy questions and data requests may be submitted through the Salted Shores website support or privacy-request system.

For requests concerning Discord-linked or Steam-linked information, include enough information to identify the applicable account, but do not send passwords or payment-card information.

Salted Shores is an independent community and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve Corporation, Discord Inc., Facepunch Studios, or other third-party platform owners unless expressly stated otherwise.
